Mayor Howard has accepted our invitation to join us at the February 11 meeting at McFadden Memorial Manor.  He has agreed to answer many of the questions we have about the status of McFadden and its future.  The meeting starts at 6:30PM.  Get there early and bring all your friends and relatives.  We not only  need to show the Mayor how much support we have, we need to continue reinforcing this support for the residents.  It’s been a long, hard road for them.  Any questions, call 781-322-1700.  See you there!!!

 We also will be going before the City Council at an open hearing on Tuesday, March 4 at 6:30PM.  The meeting is at City Council Chambers, Government Center Buildinng, 200 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA.  Join seniors, residents, workers and concerned family members.  Help us keep our seniors and disabled in their home, and keep quality care in Malden.  More details will follow but for now mark your calendars and notify your friends and relatives to be there.

The next meeting of Friends of McFadden will be January 28, 2008 at 6:30 PM at McFadden Memorial Manor.  As always we encourage you to bring friends and family members so we can expand the number of supporters for keeping McFadden open.

 We  did not get to go before the City Council during the  month of January, as we had hoped, but we know they have not forgotten us.  Gary Christianson, President of the City Council, will be contacting us in the near future to let us know when we are scheduled.  Tom Wheatley’s appearance before the council has also been postponed.  We will keep you updated on these events.

It’s very important to continue to be vocal with your councillors, the Mayor, your state representatives, etc.  We cannot allow this critical issue to go on the back burner.  We need to maintain our high energy level and pursue a win/win solution to keep McFadden open! 

We will meet Thursday evening, January 17, at 6:30 at McFadden. Please make every effort to attend as we will be planning for our meeting with the City Council which will occur in the next few weeks.

It is also important that you let us know how many people you can bring to the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 22. At this time Tom Wheatley is scheduled to address to council on the 22nd. Friends of McFadden will be on the Council’s agenda either the 22nd or the 29th. We will know by Thursday which date is ours. So please get as many people as you can to commit to supporting us at the meeting(s).
