WE GOT WHAT WE ASKED FOR …..!

On Christmas eve we learned the Geriatric Authority bill was signed by Governor Patrick.   Just a few weeks ago we were chanting…..”All I want for Christmas is my Geriatric Authority”.   Well, we got it!!  CONGRATULATIONS and our deepest gratitude for your support in making this happen.   So bask in this success, enjoy the holidays and your families, and get some rest.  We need your renewed energy and drive in 2009.

Our focus now shifts to raising money to run this facility and working to get the beds filled.  This is going to be a difficult endeavor, especially in this economic climate.  Without donations, grants and hopefully some benefactors, we will not be able to keep the doors open.  We need to continue to focus on why this is so important……we need to keep our loved ones in their home.   So enjoythe holidays, and mark your calendars for January 12.  The Friends of McFadden will meet at 6:30PM on the 12th of January at McFadden Manor.  We need your ideas and support to start our fund raising efforts.  Spread the word to friends, business acquaintances and relatives.  We need to increase our membership and get more people involved.  Happy Holidays!

All we want for Christmas is…….

At last Monday’s meeting, momentum was building behind a new slogan…….All I want for Christmas is the Geriatric Authority!   Each week we anticipate the passing of the bill, and have been disappointed no action is taken.  We need to get the bill passed so we can start some serious work on the financials and fundraising.  We ask all residents to contact Representative Fallon and Representative Donato to plead our case for the passage of this bill.  It’s really sad to look into the face of the residents and tell them we are still waiting for the passage.  Talk to all your friends and relatives and get them reenergized on keeping McFadden open.  We need them to contact Mayor Howard and the City Councillors to keep up the support for our residents and employees.

So keep up the good work……stay healthy and enjoy the holidays.  Our next meeting will be in mid January.  We will let you know the date and time.  Rest up….once the bill is passed we’ll need your time and energy for fundraising!!!

If you have time, stop by and see the residents.  They would love the company!  Happy Holidays!!
